UroGenesys Changes Name to Agensys and Expands into Therapeutic Product Development - Coincides with Acquisition of New Corporate Facilities

Santa Monica, CA, June 21, 2001 - Reflecting the company's expanded activities from urological cancers to multiple cancer diseases, UroGenesys, Inc. today adopted the new name of Agensys, Inc. The company also announced the acquisition of new facilities that nearly triples the size of Agensys' headquarters, adding expanded laboratory space, new corporate offices and a 10,000 square foot GMP production facility for therapeutic antibodies and other proteins.

The name change coincides with growth and expanding opportunities as the company builds upon its antigen discovery and validation expertise to develop a range of therapeutic modalities for multiple solid tumors. Historically known for the discovery of novel antigens associated with prostate cancer, Agensys' expanded proprietary portfolio of novel tumor antigens includes kidney, bladder, lung, colon and ovarian cancers.

"This is a very exciting period of growth and change for our company," stated Donald Rice, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of Agensys. "We have developed a large portfolio of novel, clinically relevant cancer antigens and will now pursue the development of targeted therapeutic products including antibodies, vaccines and small molecule drugs. We believe that our proprietary antigen portfolio forms the basis for strong partnership opportunities such as our global PSCA licensing agreement with Genentech. In addition, our acquisition of a GMP production facility provides us with key resources necessary to establish our own therapeutic antibody development programs."

Agensys' new facilities are located at 1545 17th Street, Santa Monica, adjacent to its current space.
